The Academy Award for Best Directing went to Kathryn Bigelow, director of The Hurt Locker. I am so happy to finally see a woman awarded an Oscar for directing a feature film. If you are not familiar with Bigelow’s previous works, check out Point Break, Strange Days, Near Dark , The Weight of Water, K-19: The Widowmaker, Blue Steel and The Loveless. I’ve been a big fan of Bigelow’s movies ever since seeing Point Break a long time ago. The thing I like the most is her sense of visual style, the ability to tell the story through images just the way a movie should be told. Bigelow is a genius of a filmmaker in my book and I hope this award means she’ll take on some more big projects.
Edit: Have just recently watched The Hurt Locker and it was just as good as I expected.
