Sort of Sunday

Not the best Sunday ever. Still not too bad. In the morning I woke up feeling rather good. I went out early to catch a bus. I had to get to the mail box to post a letter. After getting to the post box I suddenly had a very bad pain in my lower belly and almost couldn’t make it back to the bus stop to go home. These  pains are not new, I’ve had them a few times a week for months now but they are not often this bad. Of course I ought to go see a doctor about it but as it has been better for a few weeks or even a month I thought I was going to be ok anyway. And for the last three days before today I have had no problems at all. So this was a major set back.

Today I had planned to be with my mother and my oldest brother to dinner because it’s Mother’s Day here in Sweden. Now they had to go without me but at least it didn’t cancel the dinner that I had to stay at home. Still, it made my day less enjoyable for a few hours until I started to feel ok again.

Last night I stayed up late watching the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , being broadcasted live from Baku in Azerbaijan. Don’t ask me how that country is considered a part of Europe but they are and they were last year’s winner of the contest so they get to host this year’s final.

However, next year the final will be hosted by Sweden, because our song Euphoria (performed by Loreen) won.  It wasn’t one of  my favorites but of course I’m kind proud that it won. Last time Sweden won was 1999 so I guess it was about time for us to win again. This was Sweden’s fifth win and that makes us one of the top ranking nations in the history of the contest.

Sweden’s first win was in 1974 when ABBA performed the song Waterloo  . Then  Sweden also won in 1984 and in 1991.

“Whenever You’re On My Mind”

This is not a new song but it’s a new favorite of mine. I only recently started to listen to the music of Marshall Crenshaw. Thanks to Spotify I happened to find his albums and immediately I wondered how I never heard of his music back in the 1980′s when I was a much more frequent listener and always looked for new music.

I may have posted this one before but I couldn’t resist posting it again. The lyrics always grab me whenever I listen to it. I liked the movie but this song is what I will always remember.

“Some Come Running”

Very happy to be able to share my favorite Jim Capaldi song with the readers of my blog.

Ever since I first bought the album back in the late 1980′s, the song Some Come Running has been among my favorite songs.  At that time I had no idea at all about who Jim Capaldi was, I bought the album because Steve Winwood was participating on some of the songs. Later I learned from my brother – the chef/drummer – that Jim Capaldi was a drummer and had a long career both as a band member and as a solo artist. Even later I started looking for more of  Jim Capaldi’s work but found it wasn’t easy to find until the arrival of the Internet and sources such as YouTube and in recent years, Spotify.

I can’t tell you…

Time for an update

Morning, Wednesday. Nice to see you again. Been a week since last time. How have you been? So and so? Ok. I’ve been mostly rather good. A bit busy, a bit in pain and I’ve had some fun.

At the office I had rather a busy week. Lots of writing to do. Lots of jobs to apply for. Lots of work to do on the blogging project I’m still trying to get going.

Also, I’ve been following the trial against the terrorist in Norway who detonated a bomb killing 8 people in Oslo‘s city center and later shot and killed 69 people (mostly teenagers) at a summer camp on a small island near Oslo on July 22 last year.

A terrible and cruel act of terrorism.

Let’s see, what else have I been up to? Sleeping. Done some of that. Can’t remember how much though. Eating. Yep, done some of that too. Probably not as healthy as I ought to and probably too much at times but hey, I only live once and when I’m dead I’m done so let the good times roll…and rolling is what I’ll be doing if I don’t watch what I eat.

Drinking? Yeah, but nothing containing alcohol. I don’t often drink anything other than water. If I drink anything else its usually juice or Dr Pepper.

What else? I’ve watched Game of Thrones. Just keeps getting better. I wish someone would kill Joffrey, that little sadist annoys me greatly  but  I have a feeling he won’t be punished anytime soon.

Watched some movies. Too many to mention all of them but the best ones have been Toy Story and Monsters, Inc – both produced by Pixar. I have only a few more to watch before having seen all of them.

I have also been listening to music. Usually on Spotify. There’s really no need for any other source. At least not for me. I keep finding stuff I didn’t know of as well as stuff i like that I haven’t listened to for some years. Now that Spotify links are possible to embed into Tumblr and WordPress it has become even better as a source for sharing and discussing music.

Ok, what else. Yes, I have been to some chat rooms to see some people and enjoyed a few fun nights. Been really nice.

The rest of the time I have had some chores to take care of.

I think that’s all there is.

No sex? Nope, no sex. Unless  a few moments of daydreaming in connection with thoughts of a certain someone counts? Maybe. Perhaps. Does it matter? Not really.
